Mini shoot with the grad :)
My little sister, Claire, graduated from high school today. She’ll be attending University of Oregon in the fall on this awesome (and totally prestigious!) scholarship called the Western Undergraduate Exchange (or WUE), which allows her to attend the school for instate tuition. On top of that she got a Dean’s scholarship. Go Claire! I couldn’t be more proud to be her sister. It blows my mind how fast time has come and gone, I can’t believe my little sister is about to be in college in a few months… and it’s even harder to believe I wont be returning to school along with her in the fall.

My kitties took a cross-country flight with my mom and sister (all reports say that the cats are not big fan of air travel… also that my mom and sister are not big fans of air travel with cats). Luckily, everyone made it to Colorado in one piece, and my cats are getting adjusted to life a mile above sea level. Adelai is already a big fan of the great outdoors.
My dad and Mimi helped me pack up and clean my apartment on the 12th. Early on the 13th my dad helped me move all my things to Durham, NC, where I’ll be spending the summer for the American Dance Festival at Duke. It was so bittersweet seeing my apartment so empty and turning my keys into the landlord. I already miss Richmond so badly.

I walked in the Arts Graduation ceremony on May 11th, but skipped out on the big ceremony the next day so I could start packing up my apartment.

Sorry for being totally MIA for the past few weeks, a lot has been changing in my small life. I finished up my final semester at VCU almost squeaking out a 4.0. Ended up with a good enough GPA to graduate magna cum laude.

R.I.P. Maurice Sendak, author and illustrator of Where the Wild Things Are, who died today at age 83.
Sendak on death: “I have nothing now but praise for my life. I’m not unhappy. I cry a lot because I miss people. They die and I can’t stop them. They leave me and I love them more. … What I dread is the isolation. … There are so many beautiful things in the world which I will have to leave when I die, but I’m ready, I’m ready, I’m ready.”

Took Sam C. and Kat’s head shots. Currently editing Cecelia’s and have a shoot with Amy for a separate Mother’s Day project this evening. This has been a photography intensive few weeks. If only I could someday support myself this way… that would be a dream come true.

Took Brittany’s head shots, it was akin to taking pictures of a Disney Princess. I swear I have almost every senior asking me to do their head shots in the next two weeks. I’m probably going to have to start turning them down, because I just don’t have the time.

Purchased a very cool cup holder for my bike, gave it a test drive on Saturday with a Thai Tea Slush from TT Lounge. Two thumbs up, no more awkwardly walking with a beverage and my bike! Wish I had gotten one years ago.
